Hospital Infection Control and Antibiotic Stewardship Program - CMS Compliance Requirements for 2022

Recorded Webinar | Susan Seeley | Jul 26 ,2022 | 1:0:pm EST | 120 Minutes

Description

This webinar will discuss the many changes to the infection control standards that went into effect in November 2019, including a new requirement to have an antibiotic stewardship program.

The webinar will also cover the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) infection control worksheet used to assess compliance with the infection control hospital Conditions of Participation. The surveyor’s worksheet covers issues that are not addressed in the standards. Therefore, it is important for the hospital to comply with what is in the 49-page worksheet and to be aware of the proposed changes.

In addition, the webinar will cover the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) vaccine storage and handling toolkit as well as the CDC procedures for cleaning and disinfecting reusable medical devices.

Finally, infection control issues related to COVID-19 will be discussed, including the CMS targeted infection control surveys and self-assessment. The CDC also has many resources and recommendations on COVID-19 that will be addressed.

Learning Objectives:-

  • Discuss that CMS has a final infection control worksheet;
  • Recall that the infection control worksheet has a tracer on indwelling urinary catheters;
