Recorded Webinar | Toni Cesta | Jun 20 ,2019 | 1:0:pm EST | 90 Minutes

Description

Being a vital part of a hospital, case management is an improving and promoting healthcare services. Case Management involves assessment, planning, and evaluation of options for proper care of patients. Physicians play a critical role in any hospital’s case management. Two groups of physicians affect the case management – physician advisors and hospitalists.

The physician advisors (PA) review the cases referred by case managers or other professional staff. The role of an advisor can be varied. Not every physician is an advisor or is prepared for the position of advisor. Rarely, case managers or case management leaders are ready to coordinate with physician advisors. A hospital may or may not have an internal physician advisor. If in case it doesn’t, the hospital can have an external physician advisor. The collaboration between physician advisors and case managers can positively impact the efficiency and working of any hospital.

With the evolution of a hospitalist’s position, there has been an increased collaboration of hospitalists with case managers and social workers. The role of hospitalists in case management can also be considered essential. They work with a prominent aim of decreasing the length of stay. The partnership with case managers not only ensures the decreasing length of stay but also ensures compliance with federal and state regulations.

This webinar will discuss these two roles and their effects on a hospital’s case management and efficiency in healthcare.
