Starting from the 1st of Oct 2017, new ICD-10-CM  discharges codes will come into effect. The CMS announced that these changes will run through 30 Sept 2018. New information concerning the general equivalence mappings (GEMs) has also been announced by the CMS. According to the announcement, 363 new codes will be put in place along with 142 deletions and over 250 other updates.
